Did you know? Manuka Honey has many qualities that set it apart from traditional honey because of the unique qualities of the manuka plant that the nectar is harvested from. Think: Manuka Honey is kind of like a super honey. Bees collect nectar from the Manuka flowers that bloom just 2-6 weeks per year!

All natural raw honey contains the antibacterial actions of Hydrogen Peroxide – a known anti-bacterial component, as it breaks down cell walls of bacteria. Our bodies naturally eliminate Hydrogen Peroxide with Catalase, an enzyme which converts Hydrogen Peroxide to water and oxygen. That makes the antibacterial effects of regular honey short lived when taken internally or applied topically.

All natural raw honey also includes the antibacterial actions of Osmotic Pressure – The concentration of sugar to water is very high with Osmotic Pressure which means it will absorb the water out of bacteria and other organisms.

Methylglyoxal (MGO) is the unique antibacterial property found ONLY in Manuka Honey.

Dietary Methylglyoxal gives Manuka its superpowers. This is the scientifically proven “active” component of Manuka Honey, which forms in the manuka flower’s nectar. An antibacterial action not deactivated by the human body’s natural defenses. While it’s not as simple as that methylglyoxal, aka MG, MGO or NPA (non-peroxide activity) is typically what you will find referenced on most manuka honey labels. If you don’t see an indication of MG you have no idea what you are getting!

PRI offers test results for each batch on request so you know for sure you’re getting only real, pure, manuka honey.

PRI provides a line of both standard and UMF Manuka Honey. ALL Manuka Honey from NZ must be independently tested and meet MPI standards before being labeled and leaving the country. UMF is a paid certification stamp which can be added on top of this testing. The UMF organization uses its own testing scale.

Note: PRI honey is usually considerably over these values.

Use these general guidelines to pick the strength that is best for you:

For general maintenance look for an MG rating of 60-200

For maintenance and extra digestive support look for 200-400

Take 2-3 teaspoons daily for general well-being, preferably 10-15 minutes before a meal.
